Tyrone FFA Chapter Receives Highest 3-Star National Rating

Rayann Walls, Gavin Woomer, Justin Jackson, and Jesse Nevel were given clue to “Break Into” the Breakout Boxes by solving riddles and clues about FFA Career Development Events (CDE) and Leadership Development Events (LDE) during the 2019-2020 school year.

The Tyrone Area FFA Chapter has been recognized as a 3-Star National Chapter by the National FFA Organization.

The program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters throughout the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization.

These chapters improve operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

Tyrone Area FFA selected these top nine activities as part of their National FFA Chapter Award application: 72 Hours Acts of Kindness Challenge, Look Before You Leap – Career Shadowing, Breaking into CDE/LDEs, Serving Our Ag Industry, Tipping the Scales – Food Drive, Memorial Day Showers of Patriotism, STEM Ag Club, AgrAbility: The Way to Help Farmers, and Mobile Ag Lab. With more than 15 student-created, student-owned, and student-driven committees, this chapter is creating leaders for tomorrow.

Chapters that received star ratings during judging this summer and were recognized virtually at the 2020 National FFA Convention & Expo, Oct. 27-29.

All Star-rated FFA chapters received honors made possible by corporate sponsor John Deere.

“Feeding some 9 billion people by mid-century brings with it unprecedented challenges for today’s farmers,” said Amy Allen, manager, national corporate contributions for John Deere. “The skills and experiences learned through the National Chapter Award Program will help meet the critical needs.”

The National FFA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 760,000 student members as part of 8,700 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
