Tyrone FFA celebrates National FFA Week, February 22-26

The Tyrone Area FFA Chapter will celebrate National FFA Week, February 22-26. More than half a million members will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state, and national levels.

Designated as National FFA Week in 1947, the week of George Washington’s birthday, FFA Week gives members an opportunity to educate the public about agriculture. During the week, chapters conduct a variety of activities to help others in their school and community learn about agricultural education.

“It’s a good way to celebrate such a great program and get Ag students involved,” said Tyrone FFA chapter treasurer Katrina Hagenbuch.

The Tyrone Area FFA Chapter has several activities panned for the week:

  • Monday is Chapter t-shirt day
  • Tuesday is dinner with a state officer at Hoss’s
  • Wednesday is a celebration breakfast for teachers and Ag Education students
  • Thursday is “flannel day”
  • Friday is snack and game day.

This week Tractor Supply Company  is also running a support campaign to allow the chapter to earn money for its scholarships and grants. Simply visit a Tractor Supply Company (locally they have stores in Duncansville and Huntingdon) and ask the cashier how to contribute to the FFA Week event.

Today’s FFA members are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Through agricultural and hands-on learning, they are preparing for more than 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry.

National FFA Week is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
