Tyrone drops game to Central
Tyrone’s Varsity baseball team traveled to take on the Central Red Dragons, a game in which they would lose 4-14.
The game wouldn’t come without exciting moments for the Golden Eagles however, who came out of the gate swinging, taking an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first with Senior Ross Gampe hitting a homerun deep over the left field fence.
Tyrone wouldn’t run into any trouble until the bottom of the third, where the Dragons struck back, scoring 5 runs to take the lead back. Tyrone scored one in the top of the fourth, but Central didn’t let up, scoring another five runs in the bottom half of the inning.
Tyrone didn’t give up though, scoring 1 run in each of the next two innings on small ball, putting balls on the ground and pushing a runner around the bases, manufacturing these two runs.
Tyrone would use three pitchers in the game, and only combined for a total of three strikeouts, mostly due to Central’s bats being hot, having a .419 team batting average on the day.
Central would score 4 more in the bottom of the sixth, sending Tyrone home, adding another loss to their record, which would now stand at an even 8-8.
