Despite a three-run Landon Hamer homer in the bottom of the third, the Golden Eagles dropped a close 4-3 decision to Clearfield.
Clearfield jumped ahead with a run in the third. However, after Ashton Walk and AJ Coleman both reached base safely, Landon Hamer put a high fastball over the center field wall from Clearfield’s starting pitcher Hunter Rumsky to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead.
Rumsky would have a solid outing, pitching 5 innings, facing 21 batters, and striking out five of Tyrone’s hitters.
Both teams would be held scoreless until the fifth, when Clearfield posted 3 runs against Tyrone. Tyrone’s Landon Hamer did well on the day, however, he gave up four ER while walking two batters.
Tyrone would struggle to string hits together, and would only have 5 on the day. AJ Coleman would have a solid day at the plate, going 1-1 with a single, but earning 3 walks on the day.
Tyrone’s Ashton Walk attributed their rough day to, “Our energy wasn’t where it needed to be. It definitely affected our offensive production”.
Tyrone wouldn’t put up a very good fight, but would hold Clearfield at 4 the rest of the game.
The final score settled at 4-3 to end the day for The Golden Eagles.
Tyrone’s record drops to 1-2, and will look ahead to Penns Valley to try to get back to .500.
