Tyrone Domination Continues Over United

Mike Walk

Tyrone’s boys basketball team stand 4-0 and yet to be seriously contested.

Tyrone boys basketball remains in hot after steamrolling United Saturday afternoon 78-23. After four games, Tyrone has yet to be tested, putting up at least 70 points in every matchup.

This time sophomore Cortlynd Rhoades led with a team-high 19 points followed closely by Landen Dehaas with 18.

The game started slowly with both teams. However, towards the end of the first quarter, Tyrone’s shooters started getting into the rhythm and the quarter ended with Tyrone already up by 18, 21-3.

The key component to the Eagles win was their ability to counter on United’s turnovers. United struggled with turnovers all afternoon.

Tyrone has already scored a total of 311 points over four games this season.

The Eagles really pulled away in the second quarter leaving the lions with less than 10 points in the first half, while Tyrone put up a whopping 49.

Tyrone’s shots were hot in the third quarter as well when the Eagles put up 21 to the Lions 10. Tyrone’s strong defense held United’s highest scorer of the game to 8 points.

The Eagles hope to keep the dominant streak rolling as they face their toughest opponent yet on Wednesday at home against Huntingdon.
