The Tyrone indoor track team competed at the Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track on the Penn State University campus on Wednesday, January 15th at the second State College HS Invite.
At the 3rd indoor meet for Tyrone, athletes competed against 13 other teams.
Tyrone brought nine athletes to the meet. They were freshman Brody Hoover, sophomores Sarah Chichester and Caleb Whitby, juniors Nicole Ramsey and Nate Erickson, and seniors Seth Hoover, Austin Lucas, Tom Sutt, and Aiden Detwiler.
Tyrone’s top-placing athlete was sophomore Caleb Whitby, who placed third in the long jump with a jump of 20-04.25.
Whitby ended up placing 6th in the 60 with a time of 7.27 as senior Seth Hoover placed 12th with a time of 7.58.
Whitby also placed 5th in the 400 running a 53.08 following right behind sophomore Drew Irons who placed 4th running a 52.83.
In the one-mile run, senior Tom Sutt ran a 4:58.88 and junior Nate Erickson placed 26th with a 5:24.58.
In the 800 senior Aiden Detwiler placed 11th running a 2:11.45 and freshman Brody Hoover placed 29th running a 2:40.93
In the 200 Irons placed 10th running a 24.23 and senior Austin Lucas placed 17th running a 24.98.
In the 3000 Sutt placed 11th with a 10:27.18 and Erickson placed 13th running a 11:25.68.
The boy’s 4×200 relay team consisting of Irons, Hoover, Lucas, and Whitby ran a 1:37.75 good enough for 2nd place.
On the girl’s side sophomores Nicole Ramsey and Sarah Chichester were Tyrone’s only female athletes.
In the 60 Chichester placed 6th running an 8.28 and Ramsey ran an 8.54 placing 9th.
In the 200 Ramsey placed 8th running a 28.61.
In the 400 Chichester placed 6th running a 1:05.02.
Ramsey also placed 5th in the long jump with a jump of 15-04.25 and 4th in the triple jump jumping a 32-06.50
