Premier Pest Control and Lawn Care is a local business that has been offering personalized service to Tyrone and the surrounding communities for over 18 years.
Founded in 2006 by Mike Luther, it was originally just Luther Pest Control. But in 2011, Luther decided to utilize his expertise and passion for lawn care to expand the business into another area.
From humble beginnings as a small startup in Sinking Valley, it now offers help to customers from as far north as Williamsport and as far west as Indiana.
Luther takes great pride in doing a majority of the lawn care needs for Jeff Long’s Graystone Apartments and Cottages.
Luther can often be found looking at the lawn, determining the best treatments to provide the greenest grass possible, and having friendly competitions with the mowing team on who did the best stripes in the lawn on a certain day.
“Some of the days are hot and long,” Luther said, “but we try to keep things fun.”
The business is a family affair, with Mike’s wife Erin answering all of the calls. They are also fortunate to have some great employees.
Rich Dunkle has been the lead pest control technician for almost eight years, and Chris Packer has been with the lawn side of the business for five years.
Mike tries to let his employees know how appreciated they are and knows customers like to see the familiar faces.
“Many people ask how a certain employee is doing if they don’t see them for a period of time,” said Luther. “When you call Premier, you are remembered as a person, not just a number. That consistent, personal service is one of the areas that sets Premier Pest Control apart from other competitors.”
They also give back to the community by sponsoring local community groups such as the Northern Blair Rec Center sports, fish derbies, several school district sports, and church events.
“The best way to advertise is to support the communities that support you. Small communities and small businesses need to support each other,” said Luther.
Premier Pest Control gets a wide variety of calls, from a bee’s nest high in a rafter, ants over taking a kitchen, mice, ants, spiders, or termites. Premier Pest Control can help with all general pest issues.
