The Tyrone Golden Eagle boys’ soccer team improved its record 8-1 by shutting out the Penn Cambria Panthers on Monday, September 22.
Penn Cambria tried to slow down the Golden Eagle offense by bringing all eleven players back to defend the ball.
As a result, Tyrone struggled to score throughout the first half.
“We faced off against yet another low block, but we were able to break down their defensive attempts and win the game,” junior forward Tytus Novak said.
Although they had multiple chances, Tyrone couldn’t get the job done for most of the half. But just two minutes before halftime, Tyrone made a combination in the attacking third, leading to a goal by junior Tytus Novak.
After a slow first half, Tyrone knew they needed to step up their game and control the ball to create more chances, but Penn Cambria did not give up on their defensive side.
They were able to hold the Golden Eagles in check until Novak scored again, making the score 2-0.
Tyrone then controlled the ball for the most part throughout the second half, giving Penn Cambria few chances to score and barely any time to control the ball.
