Tyrone Boys End Season With 13-9 Record
Tyrone ended their season against Central in the first round of playoffs with a close score of 35-33, finishing the season with a winning record of 13-9.
This has to be considered a successful season considering that Tyrone will only lose two seniors.
Tyrone performed well in the Mountain League with a 8-5 record, placing them in third.
“As far as a record standpoint it looks as though we underachieved but as someone who watched and played you can see the obvious growth all the younger guys made,” said senior Andrew Ferguson.
The team did not perform as well as they did last year with a record of 17-6 but they have a lot of room to grow considering they are only losing two seniors and have only one junior.
The team suffered a few bumps and losses but it looking forward to next years season.
“In the next few years Tyrone basketball will be stout,” said Ferguson.
Damon Gripp lead the team in stats in almost all aspects. With 13 points per game, 76 assists and 63 steals. Brandon Lucas lead the team in rebounds with 123 close behind was Ferguson with 104. Blaine Hoover lead the team in 3-pointers with 25.
“Our young guys will get better, we need a great off season this summer. Basketball players are made in the off season, all players must buy into this during the summer and fall,” said head coach George Gripp.
The young team has a lot to look forward towards in the next season. Hoping to better their record from the last season by practicing in the off season.
When asked what he thinks about the upcoming season he said “We have a lot of returning players since we’re only losing two seniors,” said sophomore Blaine Hoover.
