In convincing fashion, Tyrone Bocce won its first home match against Huntingdon on Monday, January 13th.
In the first half, Tyrone beat Huntington 9-4; in the second half, they won 13-4.
“It was a good feeling to get the first-ever home win for the program,” Co-head coach Shannon Davis said.
Davis was pleased by the amount of support the team has been receiving from students and the community. There was a nice crowd there to support Tyrone and help motivate the team to get the win.
“The crowd motivated the team, so the team spirit was high in both games which is important,” assistant coach Kate Coltabaugh said.
Families, students, and community members were all there to motivate the Special Olympic athletes and unified partners to do well in this game.
Tyrone senior and bocce ball expert Mike Mingel thinks that the team did very well against Huntington and also said that if they can get closer to the pallina they will win all the games.
The next game for the team is on January 23rd at Tussy Mountain at 4 pm.
