After losing three of four matches in the “golden frame” last season, the Golden Eagles were 1-0 in overtime this season. However, their luck ran out on Thursday when Tyrone suffered their first loss against Tussey Mountain in overtime.
Tyrone won the first frame 7-3 and lost the second 10-3, but ultimately lost the match in the Golden Frame 1-0.
The team played well throughout the game and still had fun despite the loss.
“The first game they did really well and ended up winning. In the other game, they handled the loss well because they had fun,” assistant coach Kate Coltabaugh said.
Although they lost this match, at 3-1 on the season they are still leading the conference. With one match remaining the team is in a good spot to make the playoffs.
One thing this team has done well all season is having a good strategy and working well together.
“The team is well bonded because everyone is friends, learns, and helps each other which is a big contributing factor to our success,” Assistant Coach Shannon Davis said.
This season is the team’s best after going 0-5 last year.
The last game of the regular season is at home against Southern Huntingdon this Thursday, January 30th at 4 pm.
It will be senior night and they will honor their two seniors, Mike Mingle and Caleb LaVanish.
“Senior night will be a fun experience because everyone will cheer for the seniors. Also, Tyrone will win,” Mingle promised.
The Eagles will also compete in an end-of-season tournament at Richland on Saturday, February 1st.
