Tyrone held onto a two-run lead in the final inning of the game to defeat the Bellwood Blue Devils 5-3 on Senior Night in Tyrone.
The game started very slow for both teams as it took until the 4th inning for the first run to be scored.
AJ Coleman and Brandon McClure both got on base with walks and put themselves into scoring position for Tyrone. Owen Oakes capitalized with a single that drove in one run and gave the Golden Eagles the lead.
Landon Posteich then got hit by a pitch to get on base and Gayge Miller came up to the plate with the bases loaded. He drove in two more runs with a single and a hitting rally was started.
Tyrone was able to put two more runs on the board and closed out the 4th inning with a 5-0 lead.
Unfortunately for The Golden Eagles, with a couple of fielding errors from Tyrone and two Blue Devils hits, Bellwood put 3 runs on the board and shortened the lead to 2 runs.
The rest of the game was quiet for both teams as only 3 more hits were recorded.
Landon Postreich threw a complete game and improved Tyrone’s record to 4-6.
Before the game, the Golden Eagles honored seniors AJ Coleman, Landon Postreich, and Ryan Light.
Tyrone has a very tough schedule the following week and hopes to end the week above 500 to be able to keep their playoff hopes alive.
