Tyrone Area FFA hosts successful clay shoot
On Sunday, September 21st, the Tyrone Area FFA Chapter held their Annual Fun Clay Shoot at Warriors Mark Wingshooting Lodge in Ginter, PA.
“The clay shoot is one of our three major fundraisers for the Agricultural Education Program. The proceeds are used for leadership development conferences, travel to competitions, classroom and shop supplies, and our annual banquet in March,” said Shaye Loose, Chapter Vice President.
“We set our goal to raise $1400 this year and with the generous donations from sponsors and the 69 participants, we reached and even slightly surpassed our goal,” said co-chairman Dakota Fink.
“Mrs. Hoy believes this is a student run organization, so we have a committee of students who sent letters to potential sponsors, created the t-shirt, and assisted with all aspects of the actual event on September 21st,” added Loose.
“The Clay Shoot was very beneficial to the Chapter. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have this event every year,” said Treasurer Brandon Decker.
This year participants shot 50 targets at twelve different stations while using the Lewis scoring system; participants were also treated to a hot buffet lunch, and received the event t-shirt. The winners in each class received a trophy.
Congratulations to the winners:
Joe McNeil – Class A
Caleb Dillon – Class B
Tim Ashcroft – Class C
Matt Wensol – Class D
Gary Rowe – Class E
The 2015 Tyrone Area Fun Clay Shoot is scheduled for September 20th starting at 12:30 PM at the Ginter location.
