Tyrone Area FFA Hit their Target at the Clay Shoot
During the Tyrone Area FFA Fun Clay Shoot, eighty-six sponsors and participants took aim at the flying and rolling clays hosted by the Warriors Mark Wingshooting Lodge and Kennels in Ginter, PA. Nineteen Tyrone Area FFA members served as trappers for the entertaining event.
The clay shoot is held every year to help raise money for the Tyrone Area Chapter to fund activities for FFA members to attend conferences, contests, and provide service and learning projects for the community.
The student committee elected Paige Hoy and Nora Hoy as co-chairs in the Spring and they worked with fellow committee members Tristan Contreras and Brienn Jones in planning the event.
“It was my first opportunity to serve in a chair position. Though I have been attending the event since my Mom(Mrs. Hoy) became the Agricultural Educator, I never realized how much work takes place months prior to, during, and after the event,” said Paige Hoy.
To get ready for their event, the committee members created a budget, wrote sponsorship letters, and worked with the lodge in setting up the event. Then they recruited other members to assist with raising funds and helping with preparations and activities throughout the fun day.
“Learning to set up a budget, working with the screen printing company, and keeping members up-to-date kept the committee busy all summer long,” said Hoy.
