The Lady Eagles struggled to knock down their shots and had 20 turnovers against Bishop Carroll, resulting in a 59-33 LHAC road loss.
Tyrone was hoping to bounce back from their close season-opening loss at Penns Valley, but turnovers gave Carroll too many opportunities for easy transition shots and layups.
Led by sophomore Ava Pablic’s game-high 22 points, Carroll jumped out to a quick 21-6 first-quarter lead, making eight of their first 12 shots.
While Carroll was hot, Tyrone was cold, making just two of eight shots in the opening period and was only 11 of 38 in the game.
“We didn’t do a good enough job breaking through their pressure,” Tyrone Head Coach Mike Whitling said. “We were able to get shots tonight, but they just didn’t go down.”
However, things did improve a little for the Lady Eagles in the second quarter.
Tyrone started playing with more confidence and got a few shots to fall. Freshman Lola Woomer had 5 points in the second quarter, and Brielle Parker and Claire Lehman added 2 points each.
The Eagles also started finding ways to shut down the Huskies’ top scorers, holding the Huskies to just 8 points in the second quarter, narrowing BC’s lead to 10 points, 25-15.
Despite the improvement in the second quarter, that was as close as the Lady Eagles would get and the Huskies took a 14-point lead into halftime.
The Lady Eagles scored just 10 points in the 3rd quarter. Alana Greene scored two points from the foul line, and Rylan Crowell and Laney Woomer each added 1 at the foul line.
Claire Lehman knocked down a three making the score 48-24 after three quarters.
Lola Woomer hit her second three-pointer of the game in the fourth, making her Tyrone’s top scorer with 10 points.
The Lady Eagles are now 0-2 going into Wednesday’s home game VS Bald Eagle.
