The Look Ahead: Penns Valley Edition
The 7-1 Penns Valley Rams venture to Tyrone to battle the 2-6 Golden Eagles this Friday night.
The Rams are small in size but they play very hard which has been leading to their success this season.
Earlier in the season Penns Valley lost to Clearfield 56-49. Since then they have gone on to beat Bald Eagle 42-7, Central 42-21, Bellefonte 14-6, and Bishop Carroll 55-12. The rams have beaten every team that Tyrone has lost to.
If Tyrone is to win this Friday they need to put together a full game, something they have yet to do this season. They must play the way they played against Hollidaysburg in the first half, and Clearfield in the second half. They will need to play all four quarters physically, and with heart.
“We need one more win to make it into the playoffs, so we need to come out Friday and play to the best of our ability. Yes, they are a good team no doubt but, they can be beat if we play with emotion and play fast, physical football,” said senior wide receiver Brandon Homan.
They have a very good quarterback and if Tyrone gives him time to throw the ball he can make big plays happen. He has a good arm and he can read a defense very good.
They are a very pass heavy team and when they do run the ball they like to run buck sweep. They also, will run a quarterback buck sweep out of the same formation to catch the defense off guard. They have a small line so they run outside and let the backs and receivers make plays happen.
The Rams like to run a bubble screen and let their receivers break tackles and make big plays happen. They also, like to run post flat/lance to beat the other team deep. They depend on these pass plays, and buck sweeps to win the game.
Tyrone needs to shut down the pass this week and the sweep and they shouldn’t have a problem with Penns Valley. If they can’t contain these two things they will be in for a long night.
If the Eagle play hard nose football this week you can expect to see a good game.
