The 4-2 Tyrone Golden Eagle football squad returns to the home turf against the undefeated Bison of Clearfield.

Tyrone is coming off two tough losses and Clearfield is not going to be easy by any stretch. The Bison remain undefeated after beating AAAA powerhouse Bellefonte last week 49-21. Needless to say, the Clearfield Bison are the team to beat in Class AAAA this season.

“[We need to] treat every opponent the same,” says head coach Jason Wilson, “I believe that we can beat anyone on our schedule and each of us need to do our job each play, every down.”

The Clearfield offense manhandled the Bellefonte defense last week as senior quarterback Isaac Rumery threw for 266 yards and played a part in five Clearfield touchdowns.

Rumery made news himself this week, announcing that he will be an invited walk-on to the Penn State football team next season.

Other key playmakers for the Bison include Taye Lynch and Brett Zattoni who combined for five touchdowns last week. It will be imperative for the Golden Eagles to contain them.

The Bison defense was on key last week led by senior Jude Pallo who racked up 11 tackles against the Red Raiders. The Clearfield defense tallied seven total tackles for loss, digging Bellefonte into a hole that they just couldn’t get out of.

The Golden Eagles, on the other hand, are coming off a game that they’d rather not talk about.

Bald Eagle absolutely dominated Tyrone in the first half last week by scoring 35 and holding the Golden Eagles scoreless. The second half was a different story but the Tyrone offense was still unable to piece anything together. There’s really nothing else to talk about when it comes to last week’s match, Bald Eagle outplayed Tyrone in almost every aspect.

“We need to get back to the basics and execute better fundamentally,” said Wilson, “There’s a lot of little things that we need to correct. We need better focus at practices and put together a complete solid game of football.”

“Clearfield is a very good passing team,” according to Wilson, “Their quarterback is very athletic with a strong arm and fast wide receivers. We need to eliminate the deep passes once again and on offense sustain drives to keep their offense off the field.”

Tyrone has to move the ball this week, something they struggled with last week.

Senior Zac Albright looks to bounce back with a big night rushing wise to get his team back on track and the line needs to stick to their blocks to come away victorious. Senior defensive ends Aric Reader and Braeden Nevling-Ray must utilize their renowned pass rush and get into the Clearfield backfield to make some plays.

Opening kickoff will commence at 7:00 PM this Friday at Gray Field.
