The Tyrone Golden Eagles (5-4) play at home against the Chestnut Ridge Lions (4-5) tonight at 7 pm. This LHAC crossover game could have an impact on the Eagle’s playoff seed and who they play next week in the first round of the D6 AAA playoffs.
“Chestnut Ridge will be a tough game, but senior night will hype us up, so hopefully we can pull it off,” senior Owen Oakes said.
Last week against the Philipsburg-Osceola Mounties, Tyrone had an offensive explosion with a final score of 28-7.
However, Chestnut Ridge’s offense was even more prolific, with a 55-15 victory over the Westmont Hilltoppers the same day.
Tyrone will be led by junior running back Caleb Whitby, who has 10 touchdowns this season and is averaging 84 yards per game; senior Eli Woomer leads the team with eight passing touchdowns; and junior Mason Emigh leads with 47 receiving yards per game.
Chestnut Ridge has a slight statistical advantage over Tyrone in offensive production. Junior fullback Jayden Imler has a total of 11 touchdowns and averages 95 yards per game.
However, Chestnut Ridge lags slightly behind when it comes to their passing game. Chestnut Ridge has 831 yards passing on the season, while Tyrone has almost 1400 yards through the air.
Chestnut Ridge senior Cade Emerick is their leading receiver, with 230 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Tyrone senior Mason Emigh totals 423 receiving yards with 19 receptions and two touchdowns.
The game will be held tonight at 7:00 at Grey’s Veterans Memorial Field.
