Following Tyrone’s commanding 32-7 win over Huntingdon, the Red Devils of Central Cambria will travel to take on the Golden Eagles in what will most likely be the last home game of the season.
The Golden Eagles improved their record to 3-4 and will look to make their way to .500 for the first time since the thrilling overtime win against Bald Eagle.
Through seven games Central Cambria and Tyrone have had only two common opponents: Johnstown and Bald Eagle Area. Tyrone was able to win 42-12 against Johnstown, but CC was not as successful. The Red Devils became Johnstown’s first win since the 2019 season, losing in a 47-36 shootout.
Against Bald Eagle, the Red Devils allowed 577 yards of total offense as BEA threw for 380 yards and ran for 197, losing 39-14. Tyrone was able to hold the explosive Bald Eagle offense to 321 total yards as they ran for 196 yards and threw for 125 yards, as Tyrone won 35-28 in overtime.
Coached by Don Fyfe, the Red Devils hold a record of 0-7. The offense is led by senior running back Grady Snyder. Snyder has 101 carries and 679 yards along with 12 receptions for 143 yards. Last season, Snyder was a 1,000-yard rusher, running for 1131 yards on 198 carries and 11 rushing touchdowns. He ended the year with 18 total touchdowns, equating to 108 of the 158 points the Red Devil offense scored last year.
Under center is senior quarterback Hunter Pittsinger, who has thrown for 776 yards and seven touchdowns on 127 attempts. Yet he has thrown seven interceptions, which the Golden Eagles will look to capitalize on. In last week’s game against Huntingdon, they were able to intercept the Bearcats three times and force two more fumbles.
However, Pittsinger may be unavailable, as he left last week’s game against Forest Hills due to injury. His little brother, freshman Mason Pittsinger, will likely step up in the starting QB role.
The Golden Eagles offense will look to shine again just as they did last week, quarterback Ashton Walk was able to spread the ball around as seven different receivers caught passes. Leading those receivers were senior Trent Adams who had three receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown and junior Eli Woomer who had five receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown.
The Golden Eagles’ defensive line will be tested once again as with the chance of senior Hunter Pittsinger being out Tyrone fans should expect to see the Red Devils running the ball as much as they possibly can with Snyder.
Friday’s game will also be senior night as the Golden Eagles will honor the following 2025 seniors: Trent Adams, Gayge Miller, Dante Novak, Tyler Weston, Seth Hoover, Ashton Walk, Austin Lucas, Ian Gibbons, Cian Hockenberry, Quinn Cowher, Logan Rumberger, and Klayten Moore.
