In the battle of the Eagles last season BEA took down Tyrone 41-22, extending their winning streak against Tyrone to three.
Last year was also one of Bald Eagle’s best seasons in program history. They won the District 6 2A championship and made it as far as the state quarterfinal game where they lost to the eventual state champions, Southern Columbia, 18-10.
However, after losing 14 seniors from last year’s D6 championship team, Bald Eagle will need their younger players to step up, just like Tyrone.
So far Bald Eagle has been pretty successful this season, coming off a 49-7 win against Penns Valley last week and a 39-14 win over Central Cambria the week before. The only blemish on their record is a 21-0 loss to Bishop Guilfoyle in week one.
Most of Bald Eagle’s success has been the result of plays made by senior quarterback Carson Nagle, the son of BEA Head Coach Jesse Nagle.
Carson Nagle has been starting since freshman year and has a combined record of 29-9 in his first three seasons. In his junior campaign, he tossed for 3,568 yards and 38 touchdowns.
Nagle will look to push the ball downfield. In 2024, he has completed 62 of 92 passes for 903 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions through the first three games, averaging 301 yards a game.
His main targets have been juniors Kollin Cunningham, Beau Taylor, and Gradyn Fisher. Even though Taylor leads the team with 19 receptions, Fisher leads the team with 289 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 receptions. Cunningham has 17 receptions for 207 yards and a single touchdown.
The Bald Eagle rushing attack is led by Central Mountain transfer Carnell Noone. The junior has 25 carries for 204 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 8.2 yards per carry and 102 yards a game.
The Golden Eagles defense will be heavily tested again as they will need to keep up with Bald Eagles’ speedy weapons, as the offense will be looking to capitalize on long drives and convert on important 4th downs.
With the return of wideout and defensive back Trent Adams, Tyrone hopes to be more effective in the passing game and secondary. Adams started both ways before his injury during the week one matchup against Clearfield.
