The 1-2 Tyrone Golden Eagles enter this week’s game against Bald Eagle in a very challenging and unusual situation.
Due to the twice delayed Central game which was played on Monday night this week, Tyrone will have to play two games in the short span of only five days.
On top of that, they will need to rebound from an embarrassing road defeat to Central while facing another undefeated opponent on the road, at Bald Eagle Area.
Bald Eagle is coming off a comeback win over Penns Valley a week ago.
They are led by Head Coach Jesse Nagle who has been no stranger to success, racking up an impressive 20-7 record in the past three seasons.
A majority of the team’s recent success can also be attributed to the man under center, junior quarterback Carson Nagle. Nagle, who is also the son of Head Coach Jesse Nagle, has passed for over 650 yards and eight touchdowns in just three games.
The Eagle’s rushing attack is led by senior Cameron Dubs’. Dubs’ is averaging over 90 yards per game. He also has three touchdown rushes so far this year.
Kahale Burns is the Eagle’s number one target on the outside, catching 17 passes for 206 yards, finding the endzone once. He can create problems for the Golden Eagles in open space.
The expected return of three-year starter Dravyn Crowell from a pre-season injury should help to improve the pass defense against the quality BEA passing game.
The Golden Eagles did not have many bright spots on the offensive side of the ball in last week’s Central loss; but they still have skill players who can make plays when it counts.
Brady Ronan’s ability to run hard in between the tackles and be a reliable pass catcher make the Golden Eagles hard to game plan.
Tyrone’s receivers have continued to develop with sophomore wideout Eli Woomer proving to be a reliable target for Ashton Walk. Woomer caught the only touchdown pass against Central, a nice 79 yard TD completion.
On the defensive side of the ball, Tyrone will need to stop the quick game if they wish to have any success.
Bald Eagle likes to run quick slot bubbles to get their playmakers the ball in space. They will also fake the bubbles and try and test the defensive backs deep.
Defensive linemen Andrew Weaver and Braden Ewing will look to have huge games on the line.
Weaver leads the team in sacks with three total and looks to add this week against the pass-heavy Eagles.
While up front Tyrone is starting to get its offensive line on the right page.
The Golden Eagles could not find any running lanes against Central, but they did not give up a sack, showing that the pass protection has improved.
The Golden Eagles will have their work cut out for them as they attempt to get back in the win column and avenge a 31-7 defeat last year against Bald Eagle at Tyrone’s homecoming game.
However, these are the games Tyrone must stay competitive to have confidence for the postseason. Kick off will be at 7:00 pm at Alumni Stadium in Bald Eagle.
