TAHS Varsity Cheerleading competition season preview

Even though the 2014 TAHS football season is beginning to wind down, it doesn’t mean the end for the Varsity Cheerleading squad.

When football season is over, the cheerleaders will  transition from their usual Friday night cheers to a new routine that they will use in competition this winter.

We caught up with one of the cheer captains, Olivia Dickson, for a Q & A about this year’s squad:

EE: What are your expectations for the competition season?

OD: My expectations are to have a stress-free season for not only me, but for the whole team. I also want to make sure we improve our performances and make sure I enjoy my senior year!

EE: How do you think the squad will do at competitions this upcoming season?

OD: We’re going to have to step it up and give full effort. However, we’ve been learning more advanced stunts so i’m anxious to see us at competitions this year against the other girls at our division.

EE: What is the experience level of this year’s squad?

OD: We only have two new girls, Rayne Berger and Hannah Nimitz. The rest of the squad is returning members, and it feels like our squad has been together forever.

EE: Any advice for the underclassmen?

OD: Its high school – enjoy every moment of it!

EE: Do you have any tips for girls wanting to try out for the squad in the future?

OD: Don’t overthink or worry about anything. Be sharp with your movements and never stop smiling!  High school is all about the best memories of your life, not a bunch of regrets.
