The Cross Country team traveled to Indian Valley on Saturday, October 26 to compete a the PIAA District 6 Championship meet.
Tyrone’s top runner was senior Tom Sutt, who ran an 18:00 minute and got 15th in the AA Boys race, just three places outside the top 12 mark that qualified for States.
Junior Alex Brumbaugh ran an 18:27 for 20th place in the AA Boys Varsity Race, eight places outside of the state qualifying mark.
In the AA Girls Varsity Race, Tyrone’s top runner was freshman Kiana Gardner, who ran a 24:30, good enough for 28th place.
Tyrone’s second-best girls runner at the meet, freshman Lily Ammerman, ran a 25:51 and earned 42nd place.
In the Junior Varsity Race, freshman Nicholas Sutt ran 24:43, which allowed him to achieve 13th place.
Sophomore Adam Ray, freshman Aidan Luther, and junior Tyke Beck followed close behind with Ray running a 25:06, Luther running a 25:21, and Beck running a 26:23.
There were no Tyrone Girls runners in the Junior Varsity race.
According to Tyrone’s assistant coach Randy Wilson, Districts went very well for the team and many runners were encouraged with their results.
“I’m sad to see the season come to an end but I’m impressed with the improvements over the season and they showed Saturday,” Wilson said.
Head coach Tammy Wills wished the seniors good luck and is excited to see what next season will bring for the underclassman.
