Student Teacher Spotlight: Matt Martino

Eagle Eye: What college do you attend?

Matt Martino: Penn State

EE: What are you majoring in?

MM: Social studies education

EE: Where are you from?

MM: Saylorsburg PA – aka the Poconos

EE: Where did you go to high school?

MM: Pius X High School

EE: How was your high school  different from ours?

MM: Much smaller and we wore uniforms.

EE: What made you want to become a teacher?

MM: Ever since I was 4, I loved history and government and other subjects that fall under social studies.

EE: How did you end up student teacher at Tyrone?

MM: Penn State put me through an interview to determine which school and mentor would best fit me. I am so thankful to be here at Tyrone and to have Mr. McNitt as my mentor teacher!

EE: What is you favorite subject? Why?

MM: Civics and government. In civics and government you can relate how government policies directly affect our lives.

EE: What are some of your hobbies or interests?

MM: I like to perform endurance activities, such as triathalons and cross country. That’s why I love to help out with Tyrone’s cross country team!

EE: Who is your role model? Why?

MM: My dad. He has always supported my interest in history and such and has taken me to many places to help me learn these materials hands on.
