Student Council blood drive on Thursday April 24 from 8am-2pm
The TAHS Student Council will sponsor a Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, April 24 from 8am to 2pm in the high school gymnasium.
The blood drive is open to the general public, however many of the donations come directly from TAHS students. Students who would like to donate blood can sign up at lunch until April 15 and in Mrs. Martin’s classroom until April 22.
“We hope to have a good turn out so the American Red Cross can replenish their resources,” said student council adviser and TAHS math teacher Erica Martin.
According to Martin, the student council helps the Red Cross by signing in the donors and directing them to where they need to be before and after their donations.
Students who are at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and meet general health requirements, may donate. A full list of qualifications is available on the Red Cross website.
Students who are 16 years of age and at least 110 pounds can also donate but they must have a parent permission form signed in order to be eligible. Click the link to download the form.
“I’m giving blood because I want to help anyone that needs it, I feel I could maybe save a life by giving blood,” said sophomore Carly Crofcheck.
“I give blood because someone else could really use it. I have some to give and I think it’s for a great cause. I like to give blood. Except to vampires, we shouldn’t give blood to them,” says senior Student Council President Curtis Warrender.
“I give blood because I think It could really help someone that could really need it, and because I have the O+ blood type, which means anyone can use it,” said senior Hayleigh Friday.
