Students in the Tyrone Area agricultural classes hosted two of this year’s FFA State Officers: Sam Parks, State Reporter, and Jaylene Everhart, State Chaplain, on October 7, 2025.
The officers led a series of interactive workshops designed to build leadership, teamwork, and personal resilience across all grade levels.
The visit began with an exercise focused on managing the many thoughts that compete for attention during a typical day. Students practiced techniques to simplify and organize their thinking rather than allowing ideas to scatter.
“Writing on the plates was an interesting experience, because it was weird to think about all the different thoughts that go through my mind every day,” Parks said.
Another session emphasized effective teamwork. Students assessed their group dynamics and identified areas for improvement—some groups needed additional leadership, others required clearer communication, and several recognized a need to replace negativity with encouragement. Activities helped students practice strategies to strengthen group performance and mutual support.
Workshops also addressed personal limits and goal setting. In these sessions, students explored whether limitations halt progress or serve as challenges to overcome.
The FFA State Officers encouraged the local FFA chapter members to treat obstacles as opportunities for growth, motivating many to push past perceived boundaries and aim higher.
The students participated in leadership-focused lessons that explained why organization is essential for any functioning team. Through role practice and guided reflection, students experienced how neglecting leadership skills can lead to confusion or diminished group success.
Both officers praised the Tyrone school community and FFA chapter for its hospitality.
“Thank you for being an amazing school and chapter to visit,” Everhart said. “I loved your welcoming community,” Parks added. “I also was so thankful for everyone making the day the best. I really enjoyed being able to make memories with everyone.”
Parks and Everhart dedicated time from their busy schedules to provide the chapter with practical tools for leadership, techniques for managing stress and thought, and strategies for stronger team collaboration. Students left the sessions with new skills and a renewed focus on personal and group development.
