Guidance Office Administrative Assistant Lynda Hoover’s smiling face is the first thing students see in the high school guidance office.
Hoover is universally loved and respected by students and everyone who works with her.
Guidance counselor Jessica Koeck said she is grateful to have Mrs. Hoover on the guidance office staff.
“Mrs. Hoover is one of the most genuinely kind people I know. She is always considerate and attentive to others needs, including her co-workers. She is extremely smart and very efficient at her job and plays a vital role in not only the guidance office, but the entire school as well,” said Koeck.
The students also appreciate her kindness and willingness to help with whatever they need.
“Seeing Mrs. Hoover really brightens up my day and restores my faith in humanity. She’s always so sweet and positive. She can also sit and listen to any concerns us students are dealing with and make us feel better about the situation afterward. I am so glad Mrs. Hoover is getting recognized. She deserves it,” senior Isis Lucas said.
Every day Mrs. Hoover brings good energy to Tyrone and we are all so grateful to have her as part of the Golden Eagles family.
Eagle Eye: Why did you choose to do what you do?
Lynda Hoover: I saw the job posting and decided to give it a try because I knew I would still get to interact with the students and staff as a secretary in the guidance office. The added benefit is that it is full-time and consistent work, which was something I did not have when I was subbing.
EE: What’s your favorite thing about working at Tyrone?
LH: The staff and the students
EE: What are some of your favorite hobbies and interests?
LH: Reading, walking, camping, spending time with my family, going to Penn State Hockey games with my husband
EE: What is something that students might be surprised to find out about you?
LH: I visit people at Cedarwood (Epworth Manor) and take communion to them.
EE: What is your spirit animal? Why?
LH: My family always jokes that I am like Doug from Disney’s Up, so I guess maybe a dog who has squirrel moments would be my spirit animal.
EE: What is some good advice you’ve been given that has helped you in your career?
LH: Love God with all of your heart, mind, and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself. This is the best advice to live by always and in all areas of my life, including my career.
