Sprankle Adds Depth to Lady Eagle Win
Last week Tyrone head coach Luke Rhoades said that he wants to see more consistent scoring from players other than senior Kayelin Gibbons. This week it seems like his wish might be coming true.
Freshman Amariah Sprankle scored 12 points for Tyrone, giving the Lady Eagles another compliment to senior Kayelin Gibbons, who led the game with 24. Tyrone defeated the Clearfield Bison 51-39 on the road Thursday, January 26.
Gibbons, who has averaged more than 20 a game since her return to the lineup, has been a big staple for the Lady Eagles, but with no other assistance, they have lost a few close ones.
“Now that other teams have been double-teaming me, it’s been hard to score as many points. I think that it is a good thing because it will help other girls get better looks and open shots,” said Gibbons.
The Tyrone Lady Eagles jumped out to a quick 17-8 lead in the first quarter and didn’t look back.
Tyrone also won the JV game 23-11.
The Lady Eagles will face Huntingdon Monday, January 30, at home. The tip-off is at 7:30 in the MS Gymnasium.
