Six Tyrone Athletes Named Mountain League All Stars; Engle Named MVP

Six Tyrone athletes were named to various Mountain League All-Star Teams at the annual winter sports awards banquet Monday night at Tyrone Area High School.

Junior Kasey Engle was also named the Mountain League girls basketball MVP for the second consecutive season.  Senior Anthony Politza was the only Blair County athlete named to the boys basketball All-Star Team.

“It was nice to see the 1st and 2nd team athletes from our school.  It was also nice for our seniors to be there to receive the Mountain League Championship plaque for girls basketball. This is their third title in four years,” said Athletic Director and girls basketball coach Luke Rhoades.

The following Tyrone Athletes were honored as Mountain League All-Stars at this year’s banquet:

Girls Basketball

  • Kasey Engle- 1st Team All-Star (3rd Year as an All-Star); Mountain League girls basketball MVP (two straight years)
  • Finnley Christine- 1st Team All-Star (3rd Year as an All-Star)
  • Alexis Cannistraci- Honorable Mention (2nd Year as an All-Star)

Boys Basketball

  • Anthony Politza- 1st Team All-Star (3rd Year as an All-Star)
  • Jake Meredith- Honorable Mention

Wrestling

  • Devon Brown- 1st Team All-Star
