Tyrone was able to capitalize on Senior Night with a solid 9-1 victory over Greater Johnstown.
To honor his seniors, Head Coach Kevin Soellner started all seven of them for this game.
His goal was to let them go 3-4 innings and then put the regular starters back, but the seniors played well and he was able to give some of his reserve senior players some much-deserved extra playing time.
“The seniors deserved it, guys like D-Mac [Dylan McKinney] who have put in the work over the years and haven’t really had an opportunity to showcase anything outside of practice deserved this game,” said junior Connor McClure.
Senior Landon Hamer had a monster day with a home run, 2 hits, and 3 RBIs.
Dylan Ewing, who is mostly a pitcher and doesn’t get a lot of opportunities to hit, also got a few extra plate appearances and made them count with 2 hits, including a double, and run scored
Tyrone improved to 11-5 with the win.
The Golden Eagles have a busy schedule coming up with games against Bishop Guilfoyle, Philipsburg-Osceola, and Penns Valley later this week.
