The Tyrone basketball team is off to a great start to the season with a record of 16-4.
One of the major contributors to Tyrone’s success has been senior forward Kendall Lehner.
Lehner is averaging 14.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game thus far in his senior season.
Lehner and the Golden Eagle basketball team have a common goal of winning a district title for the first time in 25 years.
This senior class shared this goal as freshman, and are determined to make this the year for the Golden Eagles to do it.
Lehner got his start in the sport 13 years ago, like many Tyrone basketball players, by playing at the Rec Center.
“My parents signed me up for the Northern Blair Rec center league when I was five,” Lehner said.
Lehner has been a dedicated player and has been contributing to the Eagle’s success throughout his high school career. He has seen significant playing time since his sophomore year and has earned a varsity letter for the past three years.
Lehner’s teammates can attest to his abilities and teamwork on and off the court.
“Kendall is a great leader for our team and he has put in a lot of time and work to get to where he is now,” said senior teammate Sam Crilly.
Lehner has been a leader both on and off the court, especially in the past two seasons.
Lehner’s involvement with the basketball team has given him some lifelong friends and relationships that will continue after his high school career.
He plans to attend the GACTC as an adult learner to earn his certificate in welding.
Even though his plans are to not continue his playing career in college, coaches have nothing but good things to say about him. Congratulations Kenny and all the TAHS seniors.
