Move over, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and Butter Pecan; there’s a new Meadows Original Frozen Custard flavor in town!
Tyrone Area Elementary School fourth grader Georgia Good took home the title of “Most Creative Flavor” in the annual Meadows of Greenwood Flavor of the Day Contest, and her winning scoop is as dreamy as it sounds.
Her original creation, “Midnight Caramel Dream,” features a salted caramel base swirled with Twix candy chunks, crunchy pretzels, and fudge syrup.
The combination wowed the Meadows judge, April Kissell, and earned Georgia the honor of her creation being the Meadows’ Flavor of the Day on Wednesday, May 21.
Georgia said her inspiration came from a family trip to The Cheesecake Factory.
“I had this amazing caramel and chocolate cheesecake,” she said. “I wanted to do something sweet and salty like that.”
And she nailed it.
Georgia’s friends, family, and all Meadow’s Frozen Custard fans can stop by to celebrate her tasty triumph and try “Midnight Caramel Dream” for themselves tomorrow at the Greenwood Meadows location.
The Meadows will also be decorated for a Tyrone night, and all Tyrone community members are invited to visit and try Georgia’s flavor.
“As long as we show up, the flavor will become a staple in the monthly rotation of flavors. Spread the word to your families and friends,” said Georgia’s fourth-grade teacher Stevie Hoover.
A former Meadows employee in high school, Hoover made the contest into a fun and creative project in her class.
Each student had to come up with a real flavor, and were also required to write a letter introducing themselves, their flavor, and why their flavor would be a success at the Meadows.
“We decided to have them write letters as the best way to communicate with the owner, and so they can practice their persuasive writing,” Hoover said.
The students all said they loved the project, which included creativity, persuasive writing, and, of course, frozen custard!
While Georgia was the winner, she wasn’t the only scoop-star in the class.
Runner-ups from Ms. Hoover’s fourth-grade class also served up some other seriously creative concoctions:
- Saylor Black’s entry is called Country Mudslide, a Chocolate base with pretzels, cookie dough, and fudge syrup
- Vinny Ciampoli came up with Vanilla Fudge S’more, a Vanilla base with Snickers and fudge syrup
- Khaleesi Wance invented Strawberry Marshmallow, a Strawberry custard with chocolate chips and marshmallow syrup
- Alivia Luchini’s entry was called Small Cookie. Vanilla base with Oreos, cookie dough, and salted caramel
Other standout student entries included Victor Ammerman, Parker Miller, Bailey Beck, Rya Kelly, Violet Germino, Allison Harpster, and Landon Hartman.
All the finalists received a certificate and a coupon for free Meadows frozen custard.
Hoover hopes that the Meadows Ice Cream Contest continues to be a local tradition, inspiring creativity, community connection, and delicious new flavors.
For Georgia Good, it’s a sweet memory she’ll never forget.
Her flavor will be available only at the Meadows of Greenwood location from 11 am to 9 pm tomorrow, May 21, with a special Tyrone Day celebration from 4-9 pm.
