The Tyrone Golden Eagles performed well at the 30th Annual Altoona Mountain Lion Invitational on September 20th, with some strong individual performances, including one overall winner, eighth-grade runner Sage Harbst, who won the junior high race, and Alex Brumbaugh, who placed in the top 30 for the varsity boys.
Since this was a bigger meet, the high school runners are split into a varsity and junior varsity (JV) team. The top seven runners on each team run the varsity race, and the remaining players run on JV.
The course is relatively flat and is great for the JH runners, but for varsity, halfway through the race, the runners head up a huge hill into the woods, making it go from an amazing course to a difficult one. Even with the hill, the Eagles were prepared and performed well against the large field of runners.
