Rough Week for Tyrone Volleyball
The Lady Eagles dropped games to Bellefonte and Huntingdon
Lady Eagles Volleyball put up a fight against Bellefonte, taking them to 5 sets in a classic Mountain League showdown. Unfortunately the girls could not defeat the Red Raiders in the second, third, and fifth set.
Junior Emily Fusco took the lead in the fourth set by accumulating 10 service points and several aces, making the score 17-12. Fusco also ended the game with 20 digs and 6 kills. Senior Maddie Veit also had 11 digs and 8 kills by the end of the game.
“They just simply outworked us through there kills and serves,” said sophomore Brooke Welsh. Bellefonte had various kills and aces that led them to gaining many points throughout the sets.
With the absence of hitter Brianna Foy and libero Torrie Foy, the team did not have a complete court, forcing freshman JV libero Ebonee Rice into a starting role. As a result, communication was sub-par and led to several missed opportunities.
The Lady Eagles also put a fight against Huntingdon but were defeated in 3 sets that same week. Absent two starters, the Eagles lost the first set 25-19, the second set 25-17, and the third 25-20.
“I was really looking forward to beating them this year because we had beaten them last year,” said sophomore Kristen Johnson.
