Tyrone senior football standout and three-sport athlete Brady Ronan committed to Bloomsburg University on National Signing Day, where he will join the Huskies football team while pursuing a degree in biology.
The choice was extra special for Ronan because he will be a second-generation Bloomsburg University student. His father Bryan Ronan and several other members of Brady’s family are all Bloomsburg University alumni.
“Bloomsburg is the right fit for me. I’m excited to work for a spot on the roster and pursue my career,” said Brady Ronan.
Ronan had an outstanding senior season at Tyrone, rushing for 1,039 yards on 170 carries, the 24th all-time best single-season rushing mark in Tyrone history. He also scored 22 touchdowns.
Over his varsity career, Ronan had 1,768 rushing yards as a running back and 44 tackles from his defensive back position.
Last season Ronan was named first-team defensive back and second-team running back in the Laurel Highland Conference and first-team defensive back by the Altoona Mirror.
Ronan said he is not sure which side of the ball he will end up on at Bloomsburg, he just hopes to make an impact and help the team win.
Ronan has also been a key contributor to the basketball and track teams during his athletic career at Tyrone.
Tyrone Head Coach John Franco said that it has been a privilege to coach Ronan. He is looking forward to following his playing career at Bloomsburg.
“Brady had a great season on both offense and defense making several area all-star teams. He has been rewarded for his efforts with a scholarship to Bloomsburg, where I have no doubt he will be a fantastic student-athlete,” said Franco.
In addition to Ronan, the Huskies expect to welcome 25 other new players to the pack for next season. The newest Huskies hail from all across Pennsylvania and four other states. The only other local player on Bloomsburg’s current roster is wide receiver Justin Wolfe, a 2022 Hollidaysburg grad.
Bloomsburg competes at the Division II level in the 18-member PSAC conference, which includes schools such as IUP, Slippery Rock, Clarion, Lock Haven, Pitt-Johnstown, and Edinboro. The Huskies were 3-8 last season under fourth-year head coach Frank Sheptock.
