Tomorrow citizens throughout Pennsylvania’s newly drawn 13th Congressional District will vote for the Republican nominee to place on the ballot of the seat vacated by retiring Bill Shuster.

Recently retired United States Army Colonel Doug Mastriano is one of seven candidates on the Republican primary ballot.

Mastriano has 30 years of military service that included deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.  According to his website, Mastriano planned the invasion into northern Iraq in 2003; he is also a former Chief of Intelligence for the Afghanistan region and has taught masters-level strategy at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle.

Mastriano says that one of the things that make him qualified to serve in Congress is his experience in military and foreign policy.

“I have led multinational teams that delivered results.  I’ve developed strategies that have been used to maintain peace in Europe and vanquish our foes in foreign lands.” Mastriano said. “ I am the only candidate with foreign policy experience, and who has stood before leaders from around the world to advance American interests.  My experience is particularly strong regarding Russia, Europe, NATO, as well as the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia”

Term limits are an important issue to Mastriano. He would like to see fresh faces in government and abolish the career politicians.

“Our founders envisioned a Citizen Congress, not a career for politicians to amass wealth through corruption,” said Mastriano, “I will lead the fight to impose term limits on the House, Senate, and judiciary”

Another value championed by Mastriano is his willingness to stand up for his values and not compromise.

“There is no doubt that our country is under threat by radical leftists determined to take away your rights,” said Mastriano,  “It was this same sort of weak Republican leadership that failed to protect us during the eight years of Obama, gender confusion, suppression of religious freedoms, and erosion our second amendment rights. Republicans in Harrisburg and Washington DC promised to protect our God-given rights and wrote bills that went nowhere, and because of their inept leadership, we saw our country slip away.”

In the light of many school shootings, many politicians have been calling for stronger regulations and restrictions on gun laws, but Mastriano has pledged not to vote for any laws that would restrict any second amendment rights.

“A plaque of school shootings terrorizes our youth, our rights to protect ourselves is under attack. The light of freedom again seems close to being snuffed out as career politicians dither and contemplate suspending our 2nd Amendment Constitutional rights,” said Mastriano.

“I am running to fight for this nation against the bureaucrats and career politicians corrupting this great land from their plush offices in both Harrisburg and Washington DC.  It’s time to say enough. I am not a career politician. The establishment knows that they cannot own or control me because I am a man of the people,” said Mastriano “I will be your voice in Washington DC and will fight the corruption, and the feckless policies of the career politicians who are destroying our nation. I am a fighter.  I have fought for you in Iraq and Afghanistan. I will fight for you in Washington DC. Together, we can restore this nation to the greatness it once enjoyed.”
