POPS show choir to compete in Williamsburg Virginia
Tyrone’s select show choir will travel to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete in a show choir competition on April 11th.
The group of 32 students from grades 9-12 has been preparing a show since January to showcase at the “Singing In The Park” competition.
Choir director Laura Harris anticipates POPS will do well at the competition.
“I think [the students] are going to do an awesome job,” said Harris, “they are very hardworking.”
The group went last year and didn’t receive as high of a score as they expected.
Harris and several students suggest this year will be better.
“The group is well represented,” senior Bailey Christine said, “I expect we will do very well.”
POPS will be singing “Bella’s Finale” from the movie Pitch Perfect and “Some Nights” by Fun.
Freshman Austin Shuey is also expecting the group to do well.
“It should be tons of fun,” Shuey said, “I can’t wait to go to Busch Gardens!”
One quality that sticks out to the members of POPS is the closeness of the group.
“We get along so well,” Christine said, “We don’t have the drama we had last year.”
“The students are great,” Harris added, “they make me slightly crazy but they make my job so much fun.”
