Tyrone’s upset playoff victory against Hollidaysburg last Thursday has earned them an opportunity to get revenge against the Red Raiders and win Tyrone’s first district title tonight at Bald Eagle Area.

Bellefonte is the number one seed and has beat Tyrone twice in the regular season.

Tyrone is seeded third but full of momentum and hoping for another upset in the championship game.

In their first meeting of the season at Bellefonte, the Red Raiders handed the Golden Eagles a convincing 4-0 loss.

“We had a bad game collectively and once the first goal went in, our composure faltered,” said senior Andrew Pearson.

However, Tyrone has gained a lot of confidence over the last several games.  Hollidaysburg went up on the Eagle 1-0 in the first half of the opening round of the playoff. but the Eagles kept their heads up and played hard for the win.

In the second game against Bellefonte on their home field, Tyrone lost again 4-1. There was a little bit of improvement from the first game, but Bellefonte was still able to keep the Tyrone offense in check for most of the day.

Tyrone will need to be aware of Bellefonte senior Evan Nyquist, with 29 goals this season he is the Mountian League’s scoring leader.

If Tyrone can mark Nyquist and prevent him from getting possession in the open field, they should have a good chance to win.

Head Coach Nick Miller is confident that his team will pull off another upset.

“It’s tough to beat a good team three times in one season,” said Miller.

The game begins at 7:30 pm.  A fan bus for high school students will leave the high school at 6:30 pm.
