With over 250 students and guests in attendance, the first Tyrone Area High School Homecoming Dance has declared a success by its organizers.
“I thought we had a tremendous turnout. It is a great fundraiser for the Mock Trial Team and a great community event for the school. I’m glad that we did it,” said Mock Trial adviser Todd Cammarata.
The effort to add a Homecoming Dance began last year with a petition signed by 126 students and six teachers supporting the idea that TAHS should have a Homecoming Dance.
The Mock Trial team, advised by Mr. Cammarata and Mr. Funicelli expressed interest in planning and sponsoring the dance as a fundraiser for the team. Another student survey was conducted this fall and 150 students pledged to attend.
Tickets were $7 and sold in advance. The Mock Trial team hopes to continue the tradition next year.
