After months of auditions, deliberation, choreography, and seemingly endless rehearsals, the Tyrone Area High School’s Drama Club will present this year’s production of The Addams Family the Musical: School Edition, on the Tyrone Auditorium stage tonight, April 4th, and tomorrow, April 5th, 2025, at 7 pm.
Tickets are $10 and are available at door for both public performances.
Drama Club Advisor and Director Jonathan Holmes is optimistic and excited about this year’s show.
“As we head into show week, The Addams Family is going really, really well,” Holmes said. “The cast is coming into their own and really owning their characters. Our crew is learning the stage and getting the scenes in place on time. Each night, the performance is locking in more and more. This has certainly been a learning year for all of us, and I couldn’t be happier with how things are going. I’m incredibly proud of my kids. Drama Club has a bright future. I believe in it and our kids. It’s absolutely awesome to see them believe in it, too.”
In this hilarious and quirky show, Wednesday Addams the “princess of darkness,” played by junior Lydia Meredith, falls in love with a “normal” boy, Lucas Beineke (freshman Ryleigh Holmes), and asks her father, Gomez, played by senior Ethan Cooley, to keep it a secret from her mother, Morticia (junior Braylinne Shaw) leading to a hilarious culture clash when the families host a dinner together.
Gomez, who is usually open and honest with Morticia, is faced with the impossible task of keeping a secret from his wife.
The dinner for Wednesday’s boyfriend and his parents, Mal and Alice Beineke (junior Clark Tuskovitch and senior Rosie McKernan), creates a hilarious scene.
As the families interact, secrets are revealed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face the possibility of change.
Added to the mix are fantastic performances by younger brother Pugsley (eighth grader Trey Brodzina), Uncle Fester (junior Reilly Rawlings), and Lurch (senior Evan Chichester).
The musical explores universal themes of trust, fear, love, truth, acceptance, and forgiveness.
