Tyrone rolls over Philipsburg, 47-8
Gary Weaver breaks out for dominant performance
In yet another offensive explosion, the Golden Eagles triumphed over Philipsburg last Friday night to the tune of a 47-8 blowout.
“We had a good week of practice and we were dialed in from the first snap,” said Head Coach Jason Wilson immediately following the game. “The team did a solid job of staying focused and not looking ahead to nest week.”
Drew Hunter and receivers Cullen Raftery and Parker Mitchell were dominant as usual, Hunter finding each of them for a touchdown pass. Hunter tossed for a third score to tight end Michael Lewis as well.
“It was awesome to get in on the action,” said Lewis, “It was an amazing feeling to score my first touchdown of the year.”
The story of the game however was tailback Gary Weaver, who torched the Mountie defense for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Tailback Brandon Loose also added 66 yards and touchdown as well.
Weaver was ecstatic after the game, “All the credit goes to my offensive line. Without them, a performance like this wouldn’t be possible.”
The defense was dominant once again, Raftery adding his third interception of the year. On 45 offensive plays Philipsburg was limited to 186 total yards and one garbage time touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
The Golden Eagles will head to Bellefonte to face the Red Raiders on Friday, October 3rd at 7:00 pm.
