Girls soccer avoids letdown, defeats Huntingdon 3-2

The Lady Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the second half to beat the Bearcats

Following their upset victory against Hollidaysburg the day before, the Eagles almost suffered a letdown loss against the winless Huntingdon Bearcats on Tuesday.

The Eagles were down 2-0 early in the first half with goals by Kylie Glorioso and Natalee Shingler from the Lady Bearcats.  However, despite the shaky start, the Lady Eagles regrouped at halftime and found a way to overcome Huntingdon 3-2.

“I thought we were tired from our big win against Hollidaysburg from the day before but we all knew we had to pull ourselves together – including myself with missing two goals early,” said senior keeper Madison Noll, “At halftime we all agreed that we are better than what we are showing and we needed to put our soreness behind us and get the win.”

It took 60 minutes of play before the Lady Eagles started soaring again with Audrey Bowser chipping a ball over the keeper from 15 yards out. One minute later, Audrey Bowser connected with Marissa Panasiti and put the ball in the back of the net from 20 yards out.

With the score now 2-2 there is 40 seconds left on the clock and the dynamic duo are at it again. Panasiti dished the ball back to Bowser who beat the keeper near post to win the game.
