PFN names 12 Tyrone football players to Academic All Star Team
The Pennsylvania Football News list of Pennsylvania’s Academic All Stars for the 2014-2015 football season was recently released and Tyrone had a number of student-athletes make the cut.
The criteria for being considered for the PFN Academic All Star Award is that the student-athlete must make significant contributions to their respective teams on the field while also performing at a high level in the classroom.
There are three tiers of the PFN Academic All Star award: bronze, silver, and gold. Bronze includes players who maintained a GPA of 3.00 – 3.49; silver signifies a GPA of 3.50 – 3.79; gold is for those exceptional student-athletes who achieved a GPA of 3.80 or higher.
“I think this is a great reflection of Coach Wilson and the hard work of his staff to develop a program that symbolizes the true meaning of student-athlete,” said Athletic Director Luke Rhoades.
