FBLA Chapter President Paige Carper and adviser Derrick Soellner are on a mission to recruit new members who are eager to develop business skills and leadership potential while having fun.
By joining FBLA, students can explore business interests, enhance their resumes, and make lasting connections.
“As a senior, looking back at my past high school activities, I can confidently say that FBLA has been one of my absolute favorite experiences,” Carper said. “I’ve learned invaluable leadership and teamwork skills, and gained so many new friends all over the state and country through competitions and conferences.”
Future Business Leaders of America is an organization for students interested in careers in business. It helps students develop leadership skills and prepare for the business world through academic competitions, conferences, and networking opportunities.
FBLA creates a sense of community and provides a platform for students to explore their interests and excel in various business-related fields.
But FBLA isn’t just about business; it’s also about fun trips and exciting competitions.
When competing, students start at the regional level and must place at least third to advance to the state level. The state conference is held in Hershey each year.
If a member places first at states, they move on to the National Leadership Conference, which will be held in San Antonio, Texas, in 2026.
FBLA offers a diverse range of events that students can compete in, including journalism, healthcare administration, social media strategies, public speaking, and computer applications.
With objective tests, public speaking, and role-play events, members can showcase their skills in various formats. FBLA has events for both individual and group participation, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
“Whether you’re interested in business, technology, or leadership, there’s a spot in FBLA for everyone. You won’t regret joining,” Carper said.
As in every club, fundraising provides the resources to support activities, events, and projects, so FBLA is also looking for people who are willing to fundraise.
These funds enhance members’ experiences and help them achieve their goals. Without fundraising, there would be limits to valuable opportunities.
“Fundraising is necessary to make sure students can attend conferences in which they qualify. Also, students are required to pay dues at the National, State, and Local levels of FBLA ($23). Said Advisor Derrick Soellner. One of the most important things that I can say is, joining early in your high school career will give you the best opportunities to experience all the FBLA has to offer,” Soellner said.
