Not Enough People; Not Enough Wins: Forfeits Result in Loss to Hollidaysburg
Tyrone Golden Eagle wrestlers started off strong against the Hollidaysburg Tigers on Thursday, January 10 but could not overcome multiple forfeits, losing 54-27.
The match began at 106 with Tyrone sophomore Ashton Sipes pinning Hollidaysburg sophomore Xavier Adams in just 27 seconds. Sipes’ pin was the fastest pin of the night.
Following at 113, Tyrone sophomore Hunter Walk’s outstanding season continued with a pin on Hollidaysburg junior Colin Smilnak in 2:05.
Continuing with the theme of pins, Tyrone junior Mason Walls alos pinned sophomore Brian Praul.
But the downfall for Tyrone began after that with forfeits at matches at 126, 132, 138, and 145. This brought the score to 18-24, Hollidaysburg.
But sophomore Alex Weaver, wrestling at 152, tied the match again with a pin of Hollidaysburg sophomore Weston Barnes in 2:44.
At 160, Tyrone freshman Zack Lash took on sophomore Campbell Walls. Lash was pinned in 4:43 after putting up a tough fight.
Tyrone sophomore Tommy Hicks, at 170, beat senior Nathan Fisher 6-2.
Tyrone then forfeited the match at 182 and then later at 220.
Wrestling at 195, Tyrone senior Jack Lewis was pinned by senior Mason McCready in 1:43, and at 285, Tyrone sophomore Parker Allen was pinned by senior Sam Haines in 1:18.
