The Lady Eagles prepare for the 2024-25 season, they hope to build on last year’s experience and overcome the challenges they faced in their first season in the Laurel Highlands Conference.
Last season, the Lady Eagles ended with a disappointing 6-16 record as they adapted to a new coaching staff and tougher conference.
As the season approaches, the Lady Eagles are working hard to overcome the setbacks of last year and aim to prove themselves as serious contenders in the conference.
“I’m really looking forward to building on the successes of last year. We have a lot of game experience coming back this season and we’re ready to make some noise in the LHAC,” said Head Coach Mike Whitling.
The girls played two pre-season scrimmages against Everett on November 23rd and Richland on November 25th. The Lady Eagles lost to Everett in a close game and beat Richland by double digits.
The team lost just two seniors last year, and several young players have stepped up to fill those roles.
Returning letter winners include Claire Lehman, Alayna Woomer, Alayna Greene, Rylan Crowell, Liv Newlin, Elise Volders, and Brielle Parker. Starting for the first time this season is freshman Lola Woomer.
With the younger players gaining valuable varsity experience last year, the Lady Eagles look to benefit from increased confidence and skills on the court.
The first regular season game will be at Penns Valley on Wednesday, December 4th, at 7:30 p.m.
Tyrone fans will remember the close battles the Lady Eagles had with Penns Valley last year, with the Lady Eagles narrowly losing 40-45 and 45-47.
Penns Valley lost their starting point guard to graduation, and the Lady Eagles hope to seize the opportunity to claim a victory this time around.
With a team filled with motivated and experienced players, Tyrone’s Lady Eagles are ready to step up, make improvements, and put forth a spirited performance all season long.
