New home for the Eagle Eye and Channel T news teams
New home and new equipment for Tyrone’s media classes
The Eagle Eye News and Channel T both moved into a new home this year. They are now sharing two conjoined rooms to better broadcast the news to the Tyrone High School community.
The Eagle Eye staff now have their own computer room to work on their stories.
Next door, Channel T has a brand new video studio where the morning announcements are broadcast.
The Eagle Eye Editor in Chief Carly Crofcheck says she is glad to have the new room but one drawback is that because of the popularity of the class the staff was split over two periods.
This causes some difficulty of communication between the classes, but the staff is doing its best to work around this problem.
Having their own news room means the staff doesn’t have to share their computers with other classes and they’re able to interact more easily due to the layout.
“The new studio is far superior,” says art teacher and Channel T producer Eric Feather, “it gives us a lot more space to work.”
Eagle Eye adviser Todd Cammarata and Feather look forward to having their students work more closely on video projects.
They are also glad to have more cameras and video resources to work with.
“Last year [the Eagle Eye] only had one quality camera. It’s kind of amazing that we were able to do as much as we did with only one,” said Cammarata, “but now thanks to the generosity of the high school and middle school yearbook classes, we are now sharing six additional DSLRs with them, which will really help out in the photography department.”
The new rooms and new equipment are a great improvement and will give the Eagle Eye and Channel T much more potential to bring the Tyrone community breaking news.
