March Madness Challenge: Sweet 16 Update
With most of the brackets in the Eagle Eye March Madness Challenge busted, a few front runners have emerged.
After the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament, there is a two way tie for first place in the TAHS pool (to see the complete current standings, view the slideshow above).
Freshman Olivia Bietz and junior Preston Mitchell are tied with 36 picks correct.
Senior Ben Shetler, sophomore John Chronister and Mr. Shedd’s student teacher Chris Turtoro round out the top five.
Front runners Bietz and Mitchell both have their Final Four teams yet to lose.
Despite being a member of the girls basketball team, Bietz told the Eagle Eye that she has “never made a bracket before.”
The rookie has number four seed Michigan State defeating the returning champs Louisville in the championship.
The other current leader, Preston Mitchell, is not nearly as modest about his accomplishment.
When asked what his secret is to filling out a successful bracket, Mitchell said “There is no secret, because I’m the best.”
Mitchell’s motto is “to pick them all is my test, to train is my cause.”
“I was ready since day one,” said Diddy, “When I came out of da womb, my dad handed me a bracket and a pencil. I ended up choosing a perfect bracket that year.”
The confident junior has Louisville defeating Michigan State in the championship.
Another junior Dwayne Boone’s bracket is in 59th position after having a disappointing bracket.
“Going into March Madness, I thought I took the bracket by storm. But seeing Duke lose, it took my pride and joy and now I’m stuck a misery man,” said Boone, “No win for me, so now what can I do? Be a better man and fix my character for next year.”
The Sweet 16 games start on Thursday, March 27th.
