Look Ahead: Hollidaysburg

The Tyrone Golden Eagles are coming off back-to-back wins for the first time since 2020. The Eagles dismantled Philipsburg-Osceola 38-7 but have a bigger fish to fry this week at 5A Hollidaysburg.

Tyrone got their offense up to par last Friday with 356 total yards in offense and the defense only gave up one score late in the game after many starters had already exited the contest. Though Philipsburg is now 2-6, the game was a very good confidence boost to prepare for the last two weeks of the regular season.

Hollidaysburg, led by head coach Homer DeLattre, has a respectable 3-4 record considering most of their opponents have been larger 5A and 6A schools. They are coming off a 32-20 win against West Mifflin last week.

Hollidaysburg’s offense is very balanced under quarterback Jake McGinnis (#15). McGinnis has thrown 94/172 for 1112 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 269 yards and a touchdown.

The Golden Tigers also have a sound running attack averaging 127 yards per game. Leading the backfield is Senior Xavier Bainey (#48) with 74 carries 375 yards and 6 touchdowns. The next man up is Chase Fox (#21) with 48 carries 211 yards and 2 touchdowns and Qb Jake McGinnis respectively with 60 carries 269 yards and 1 touchdown.

The receiving corps is led by Senior Justin Wolfe (#5) with 28 receptions and 433 yards on 3 touchdowns and Sophomore Caden DeLattre (#3) with 12 catches, 132 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Notable offensive linemen are Seniors Vincent Franco (#70) and Charlie Smith (#77).

The Golden Tigers base defense is a 4-4 or commonly looked at as a 6-2 because the outside linebackers frequently come up to the line of scrimmage. Hollidaysburg has given up an average of 22 points per game and has 3 interceptions and 6 fumble recoveries.

Upfront Hollidaysburg has big defensive tackles in Ben Estep (#64) and the sack leader with four on the year Sebastian Ross (#61).

The Leading tackler on the team is Xavier Bainey (#48) with 55 total tackles and 6 for loss of yards. Following him in the run-stopping department is Ben Estep (#64) and Avery Sloan (#1).
Along with Sloan, leaders in the secondary are Justin Wolfe (#5) and Chase Fox (#21).

The last time the two teams met was in 2019 which was a 28-13 loss for the Golden Eagles.

The kickoff is at 7 pm at Tiger Stadium in Hollidaysburg.
