The 2-1 Tyrone Golden Eagles are headed to Wingate tonight to take on the 1-2 Bald Eagle Area Eagles in a battle of the birds.
Tyrone is coming off a huge win against Central, defeating the Scarlet Dragons for the first time in seven years. Bald Eagle also earned a convincing 21-0 win last week against 0-3 Penns Valley.
The BEA Eagles lost their first two games of the season, losing 14-6 at home vs. Huntingdon in week one and 47-24 at Penn Cambria in week two.
Tyrone’s defense has been looking solid so far this season, only allowing 33 points in the first three games.
Kyler Suhoney leads the Golden Eagles with 22 tackles (five for losses), followed by Marshall Martin with 21 (three for losses), Ashton Emigh with 14, Mason Emigh with 12, Owen Oakes with 10, and Brayden Parsons with seven.
In the secondary, Mason Emigh leads the Eagles with three interceptions, Braden Parsons has two, including one for a touchdown, and Owen Oakes also has an interception and a sack.
The offensive side of the ball has also been playing exceptionally well. Caleb Whitby leads the team with 359 total yards and 5 TDs. The commander of the offense, Eli Woomer, has started strong with 557 passing yards and 5 touchdowns.
Woomer’s favorite target has been Mason Emigh, who has six receptions for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
As for Bald Eagle, Kaleb Irion is under center this season, replacing All-State QB Carson Nagle.
Irion has 394 passing yards and three total touchdowns so far.
The star of the Bald Eagle offense is without a doubt Nick McCulley. McCulley has 400 rushing yards but has yet to see the endzone.
Grady Fisher is the Eagles’ leading receiver with 12 receptions for 174 yards and a touchdown.
Key defenders for BEA are Drew Nagle with 23 tackles (two for losses), Gage Gardner with 12 tackles (seven for losses), and Nino Danneker with 12 tackles (four for losses).
This game will be a battle in trenches and is going to come down to who is more physical up front. The past two games, the Golden Eagle offensive and defensive lines have improved tremendously, and they hope to keep that trend moving forward.
The matchup begins at 7pm. at Bald Eagle Area. The game will be livestreamed on the BEA YouTube channel, Eagle Ambassadors: https://www.youtube.com/@beaambassadors
